How to do a Climb Up
The climb up is one of the first moves you'll learn in pole. It is a foundational move and yet more difficult to master than expected. If you're new to pole using shin and knee skin for grip is a foreign concept. And for many, the adductor muscles aren't very built up yet which means the strength between the knees isn't that strong. So believe it or not, the climb up can pose difficulties which prohibits you from advancing which can be frustrating!

When I was practicing the climb up I went on to Youtube to see what resources it had for me. Some worked, others not as much. Now that I've mastered the climb up and I can move in and out of it effortlessly I've rewatched a lot of these tutorials and have chosen 3 that I believe provide the best technique, explanation and demonstration.
So, here they are!
1. Ida Rosen of Flow Pole and Fitness
This is by far my favourite! Not only is the video amazing quality but Idas explanation from pole physics to using imagery is so concise! Aand I'm a bit of a technique nerd so I LOVE the detailed instructions. You just gotta check this out:
2. Divine Movement
Also great explanation and spot on technique. I love the emphasis on safe dance practice. Safe dance practice means less injury!
3. Muse Fitness TV
Also great visuals and explanation.
So there you have it! Happy poling! Let me know if this was helpful for you!
