How to do a Basic Invert
The basic invert is an intermediate move which transitions a dancers relationship with pole from simply 'seeing each other' to 'dating'. This is where things get serious! Before learning how to do an invert the moves you'll know will be simple and primarily utilise your upper body strength.
The basic invert opens up a whole new world of moves but first you'll need proper technique and strength to get you into that invert. It may look simple and easy but requires a lot more focus and strength than one initially realises.

The basic invert requires strength in your back, arms, abs and hip flexors. Some people jump straight from the ground into a crucifix but I much prefer tucking the knees to your chest first because it strengthens your abs and protects your muscles and joints from strain in the long run. Not relying on momentum from a kick will help you as you advance into an aerial invert which is a really hard move to master at first. So make sure you strengthen your muscles as well as habits from the get go!
